Our Story
The Coalition was formed in 2018 as an outgrowth of a Roundtable Discussion involving community leaders, public and private natural resource managers, educators, recreation specialists, and a variety of local private-sector businesses. The diverse recommendations from these discussions provided a roadmap to develop programs to enhance understanding of the important role Baker County’s natural resources play in the wellbeing of our communities.

Who We Are
We are a community-based Coalition committed to addressing the natural resource-related interests and needs of our county’s citizens. We are committed to promoting informed management and sustainable use of our natural resources, responding to these interests and needs, with a strong emphasis on developing and providing non-traditional education and outdoor learning experiences.
The Coalition comprises institutions, agencies, and landowners who share a common vision: to promote the management and sustainable use of our county’s natural resources in support of the county’s economic development. We are now a legal institution. Our Board of Directors, with input from our members at large, approves managing financial resources, policies, employee recruitment, and all other activities. The Board of Directors ensures that all decisions reflect our collective vision and values.

Mission
In pursuit of our Vision, the Coalition: Promotes management and sustainable use of our County’s natural resources as a cornerstone for economic development, provides a forum for different sectors to work together to address natural resource-related issues, inspire current and future generations to recognize the importance of our natural resources in maintaining the wellbeing of our communities, and provide a pathway to outdoor careers.
Vision
The County’s natural resources are managed and used for the wellbeing of our citizens; that working together across relevant natural resource sectors promotes more resilient and lasting solutions that serve more needs.
