Who We Are

Founded in 2018, Baker Resources is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable natural resource management and strengthening communities through collaboration, education, and stewardship. The organization focuses on five key areas: sustaining water resources, supporting tourism and recreation opportunities, expanding forest product markets, addressing Wildland Urban Interface challenges, and cultivating the next generation of stewardship leaders. By partnering with local organizations, schools, and industry professionals, Baker Resources develops innovative programs that create lasting environmental and economic benefits.

A cornerstone of Baker Resources' mission is engaging and empowering youth through hands-on learning opportunities. Since 2019, the organization has offered its annual Summer Stewards Program, providing students with paid, real-world experience in natural resource management while earning college and high school credit through a partnership with Treasure Valley Community College. This initiative has grown into a recognized High School Natural Resource Club, where students develop leadership skills, earn industry certifications, and explore careers in conservation and land management. Through mentorship, education, and strong community partnerships, Baker Resources continues to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.

Our Story

The Coalition was formed in 2018 as an outgrowth of a Roundtable Discussion involving community leaders, public and private natural resource managers, educators, recreation specialists, and a variety of local private-sector businesses. The diverse recommendations from these discussions provided a roadmap to develop programs to enhance understanding of the important role Baker County’s natural resources play in the wellbeing of our communities.
